As the dawn of electric vehicles (EVs) continues to transform the automotive landscape, well-established British car manufacturer, Vauxhall, is partnering with retail giant Tesco, offering a unique proposal that merges motoring and grocery shopping into one exciting package. This groundbreaking initiative includes a generous offer of 50,000 Tesco Clubcard points and a year’s free EV charging to every new Vauxhall EV purchaser. This article delves deeper into the partnership and the all-encompassing electric drive Vauxhall is steering in the UK.
Partnership with Perks: Vauxhall and Tesco
As part of its ongoing dedication to encourage EV uptake, Vauxhall has enhanced its partnership with Tesco, offering customers a deal that not only supports their pocket but also the environment too. The latest initiative enables new Vauxhall car buyers to collect a whopping 50,000 Tesco Clubcard points, equivalent to £500 to spend in-store or online at Tesco. If customers choose to utilise Tesco’s Clubcard Reward Partners, they could benefit from up to £1,000 worth of value.
This special offering is another step forward in Vauxhall’s ‘Electric Streets of Britain’ initiative. Designed to tackle the UK’s lack of on-street charging facilities, the campaign is a proactive response to recent studies showing that over 70% of UK councils lack a published strategy for residential on-street EV charging.
Quoting Vauxhall’s Managing Director, James Taylor, on this partnership, “Vauxhall is always looking for ways to both reward and support our customers and we are delighted to be able to bring this incredible offer to them through the Tesco Clubcard scheme.”
Free Charging: Powering Up Across the UK
Vauxhall, along with Tesco and Pod Point (a leading provider), is working towards constructing the UK’s largest supermarket charging network, aiming to facilitate convenient and free charging for new Vauxhall EV customers. The plan is to set up 2,700 charge points across 619 Tesco stores nationwide, showcasing a mix of 7kW, 22kW, 50kW, and 75kW charging stations.
The Power Within Vauxhall EVs
Vauxhall’s EV lineup, including the new Corsa Electric YES Edition and Mokka Electric Griffin, offer impressive stats. Without divulging into too many technicalities, what EV enthusiasts can anticipate is swift acceleration, substantial battery power, superior charging capabilities, and a highly competitive mileage range.
Vauxhall’s partnership with Tesco is emblematic of the broader shifts within the automotive industry. While the perks are undeniably attractive for customers, the underlying commitment to sustainable mobility is a larger driving force. Vauxhall’s progressive strategy to boost EV uptake, support on-street charging, and exploit cross-industry partnerships is emerging as a gamechanger in the UK’s march towards an electric future.
