Peugeot is making waves in the electric vehicle (EV) industry with its announcement of the latest all-electric model, the E-308. This new addition to their range is now open for orders, and the prices start from a substantial £40,050 OTR MRRP.

Power, Performance, and Pleasure
Packed with a 115kW electric motor and a 54kWh battery, this debut C-segment EV claims to provide a driving range of 257 miles (WLTP). Such a range is quite competitive within the industry, placing it slightly above average. However, EV users well know the actual range can often fall short of the WLTP figures, so it’s something to watch closely.
The new E-308 features three driving modes (Eco, Normal and Sport), each contributing to a unique driving experience. A notable inclusion is the ‘Brake’ mode, designed to enhance energy recovery during deceleration. Yet, how significantly it improves the overall range remains to be tested.

A Charge Above the Rest?
Peugeot promises flexible charging options, with an onboard three-phase 11 kW charger as standard. For a full charge, the manufacturer estimates around 7 hours from a home wall box and less than six hours from an accelerated public charger. Impressive charging speed, but how it performs in real-world scenarios will truly inform prospective buyers.

Distinctive Design or Déjà vu?
The new E-308 sports an eye-catching design. But, followers of the brand may note similarities with other models in the range. The large vertical grille, fang-shaped daytime running lights, and Peugeot’s three-claw light signature all scream typical Peugeot, which could be a selling point or a downside, depending on the consumer’s view.

Peugeot’s Future Tech Today
Inside, there’s no shortage of tech. The latest PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® includes a 10-inch touchscreen, i-Connect Advanced infotainment system, and i-Toggles. While these features are pushing the brand’s tech boundaries, the ease of use and reliability will ultimately determine their value.

Consumers, Start Your Engines
With all this tech and performance promise, does the E-308 hit the mark for consumers? Its price point may be an obstacle for some, especially with the rising competition in the EV market. But, for buyers seeking a premium electric experience, the E-308 could prove an alluring choice.

The Takeaway
While the new Peugeot E-308 seems a strong contender in the EV market, its real-world performance, usability, and value for money are yet to be judged. As EV enthusiasts, we’re certainly excited to see this one hit the roads. Whether it will spark a revolution or remain a well-packaged reiteration of existing EVs is a story for another day.
