As the festive stalls are being spruced up across the nation, we delved into the data to identify the most accommodating markets for EV enthusiasts. Manchester Christmas Market makes it to the top of our list, closely followed by Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market and Leeds’ Winter Favourites.
This research utilized Visit England’s invaluable data on 14 renowned Christmas markets in England. We then assessed the accessibility of these markets from the 15 most populated cities in the UK. The PEUGEOT e-208‘s impressive 225-mile (WLTP) range was used as the measure. The number of public charging stations within a three-mile radius around the market, the rapidity of these charging points and the availability of accommodations offering free charging were also taken into account.
Nearly all of the top 10 Christmas Markets, except for Padstow’s Christmas Festival on Cornwall’s North Coast, are accessible from at least nine major cities in the UK. Manchester Christmas Market emerged as the most reachable, with the highest number of charging stations within a three-mile radius of the city centre.
Leeds also impressed with a hefty count of charging stations and is reachable from 13 major cities using the PEUGEOT e-208. Free charging options for EV drivers were also considered, with York presenting an impressive 19 different accommodation options with free chargers.
