The crowning winter holiday spots for electric vehicle drivers across Britain have been disclosed, with the historically rich city of York in North Yorkshire leading the pack. It demonstrated the optimal mix of accessibility, wide-ranging public charging facilities, and electric vehicle-supportive lodgings, as per the latest findings from Vauxhall.
Vauxhall utilized the Condé Nast Traveller’s research of the top 10 British winter retreats in their study, comparing the reachable destinations from the 15 most densely populated cities across the nation using Vauxhall Mokka Electric’s 209-mile WLTP range. The study also accounted for the quantity and availability of public charging stations within a 10-mile radius in each city, the rapid chargers with speeds exceeding 50kW, along with the number of accommodation options providing charging facilities for electric vehicle drivers.
York is accessible from 11 of the UK’s most populated cities with the 209-mile range of the Mokka Electric, and features 47 distinct public charging stations, 11 of which offer rapid charging. York also takes the lead in terms of accommodation choices with charging capabilities for electric vehicles, presenting 21 different options within a 10-mile radius of the city center.
Cambridgeshire’s Lode and Somerset’s Bath are tied for the second spot. Lode’s Winter Garden, designed with winter-friendly flora, is within 209 miles of 12 major cities and offers 36 public charging stations. While in Bath, electric vehicle drivers can access 28 charging points within a 10-mile radius around the city centre, including four that deliver speeds beyond 50kW.
The rest of the top five locations based on the Vauxhall research include Woodstock in The Cotswolds, Newquay in Cornwall, and Beaulieu in New Forest.
The Vauxhall Mokka Electric, equipped with a 50kWh battery and a 100kW electric motor, can cover up to 209 miles (WLTP) on a single charge. Considering the winter’s impact on the vehicle’s range, Vauxhall has designed a Range Calculator to aid drivers in estimating the expected range under varying usage situations.
