The Resurrection of the Centoventi Concept
The silence has finally been broken after several years of anticipation following the reveal of Fiat‘s five-door hatchback, the Centoventi, back in 2019. Originally touted as the successor to the beloved Panda, the Centoventi seemed to vanish into obscurity. However, the wait is over. We can now confirm that the philosophy behind the Centoventi concept will be ingrained into the future range of all-new Panda models.
According to Fiat’s design chief, Francois Leboine, the Centoventi is indeed immersed into these upcoming concepts. This not only incorporates Fiat’s traditional values of simplicity, affordability, and flexibility but also brings a modern twist to these much-awaited vehicles.
The New Panda: A Mix of Past, Present, and Future
Despite the disappearance of the Centoventi as an individual entity, its spirit will live on in the new Panda range. These new models will reflect a blend of the Centoventi’s innovative design intelligence, refreshed with a touch of nostalgia for older models. Fiat has taken the path travelled by other manufacturers, paying homage to the past while steering towards the future, much like the recently released Renault 5.
Fiat’s design team has painstakingly tried to incorporate elements from the first Panda into their new designs. You can expect to see elements of simple surfacing, the addition of robust wheel arches and a blend of the original’s three main lines: the bottom, the bed and the roof. This mix of past and future is the essence of the new design philosophy, ensuring longevity in the models we love.
