When Mate founded Rimac Automobili in 2009, his vision was to construct an all-electric hypercar. Fifteen years later, that dream manifests in the sleek, powerful, and personalised Nevera he now drives. The Nevera is a symbol of Rimac’s ambition, featuring meticulous in-house design and manufacturing processes that have been keenly tailored to Rimac’s specific taste. This article delves into the intricate details of the Nevera’s creation and personalisation, offering electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts an insight into this high-powered vehicle’s unique attributes and how it fits into the larger automotive landscape.

The Customised Creation

Mate Rimac had a clear idea of what his Nevera should look like. Countless options were available, all stemming from the in-house capabilities at Rimac Automobili in Croatia. From a machine shop forging complex metal parts to a design team primed to turn visions into reality, Rimac’s vision of a full carbon body, tinted in red, was brought to life. The vehicle features a unique level 3 carbon finish, demanding millimetre-precise alignment and flow of fibres across the body panels. The finishing process is incredibly meticulous, reiterating the level of commitment to quality and perfection inherent in Rimac Automobili’s DNA.

Under the Bonnet

Inside, Nevera’s cabin can be customised with bespoke motifs stitched into the armrests, headrests, knee cushions and more. These personal touches, coupled with the choices of Napa leather, Alcantara, or a mix of different materials, offer a glimpse into the world of personalised luxury. In Mate’s car, he chose an asymmetric trim: predominantly black on one side and red on the other. These creative choices demonstrate the extent to which electric vehicles can emulate traditional luxury cars while offering unprecedented levels of customisation and craftsmanship.

A Nod To The Homeland

For Rimac, the Nevera is more than just a car. It bears the Croatian flag on its side mirrors, a testament to his refusal to relocate the business despite early challenges. There’s even a custom-designed lightning motif under the spoiler, a nod to the Mediterranean storms off the Croatian coast that inspired the car’s name, ‘Nevera’.

Mate Rimac’s Nevera is an embodiment of his determination and vision, proving yet again that EVs are not a compromise but a potent combination of performance and luxury. While the vehicle is undoubtedly impressive with its unique personalisation options and attention to detail, it also raises questions about whether these bespoke services will be widely available to customers or exclusive to the select few.
