The N Vision 74, a 670bhp hydrogen-powered beast, has been confirmed for production. This exciting update came to light during Hyundai’s recent Investor Day, where it was hinted that the N Vision 74 would be one of the 21 new vehicles expected to hit the roads by 2030.

The speculative mention of the Vision model managed to grab our attention amidst the barrage of information. Hyundai, did you truly believe we’d overlook this gem?

Reminiscent of the Past

The N Vision 74 takes its inspiration from the 1974 Pony Coupe concept, which explains the ’74’ in its name. The design of the Vision borrows heavily from the original masterpiece by the iconic Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. For those out of the loop, Giugiaro is credited with designing legendary cars like the M1, the Merak and the De Tomaso Mangusta.

A look at the Vision model reveals its familiar ties with the Pony: boxy lights, thick B-pillars, a sleek roofline, and a flush of straight body lines. The Vision model, however, brings additional flair to the half-a-century-old design with a touch of modern appeal. This includes a sizeable body kit, a large rear wing, and more air ducts than a central heating plant.

A Testament of Power

The propulsion for this beast comes from an impressive 670bhp powertrain – a fuel cell nestled between two 4.2kg hydrogen tanks and a 62.4kWh battery. With a speculated boost pressure of seven hundred bar, it’s set to put all the modified Supra lovers to shame.

The Vision hasn’t forgotten about the essentials either. Despite being Hyundai’s most ambitious project yet, there’s a functional dashboard for day-to-day operations including managing the air conditioning and wiper blades. Vision’s goal isn’t just about pushing the boundaries of hydrogen capabilities, it’s to do so without losing the characteristic functionality of a Hyundai.

A Future in Sight

Although we only have a handful of details at the moment, it’s quite clear that the N Vision 74 will be part of Hyundai’s forthcoming fleet. It’s time to take hydrogen storage seriously, folks – the future of automotive is upon us.
