Reimagining the Citroen Ami
The Citroen Ami has entered its ‘adolescence’ with an adorable yet refreshed look. The quadricycle, now four years old, has evolved from its jovial and quirky aesthetic to a more mature appearance, though not without maintaining its charming personality.
Indeed, the dimensions of the vehicle haven’t been altered, just the façade. The front of the quadricycle now includes a more humanised ‘smile’, framed by two high-set headlights traced in black. The side lights have moved lower, and with a sharper, declining front end embellished with the new badge in the middle, the Citroen Ami presents an approachable air.
Adding Colour and Protection
In addition, the wheel hubs decorated with colourful squares give the Ami a playful vibe, reminiscent of a child’s toy car. Not merely for aesthetics, these embellishments promise bumper protection for this small vehicle, creating an ensemble that’s practical and endearing.
The designers at Citroen have taken cues from the storied 2CV, often dubbed the spiritual predecessor to the Ami. The bright side panel designs and trademark chevron patterns grant this second-gen Ami a distinctive charm, setting it apart from its predecessor.
Interiors and Extra Features
As for the Ami’s cabin, Citroen hasn’t mentioned any significant changes. Hence, one could expect the simple three-button dash setup and the minimalistic, lightweight plastic seats to remain.
The company has also revealed a new concept, the Ami Buggy Vision, aimed at beach enthusiasts. With LED roof lights, yellow-tinted headlights and tyres capable of navigating sandy terrains, it seems Citroen is keen on offering fun alternatives within the Ami line-up. For individuals with mobility concerns, the ‘My Ami For All’ provides a modified version of the quadricycle, with space to store a wheelchair – a heartening upgrade from the typical mobility scooter.
So, despite its small stature, the redesigned Citroen Ami embodies a huge leap in making mobility a fun, cheerful and inclusive experience.
