Elon Musk is a man who knows how marketing is done right. His range of Tesla electric cars have caused nothing short of a shockwave around the world since their launch a few years ago, and his wacky packaging strategies are certain to have helped.
Not only do the sportier cars come with an ‘Insane Mode’ where more mainstream (or should that be ‘boring’?) models may have a ‘Race’ function, but now we’re told that the flagship model, the all-electric Model S P85D, is eligible to benefit from a ‘Ludicrous Speed’ update.
The improvement doesn’t come cheap, at around $10K. But for this, customers will shave their already-mental 0-60mph time down by 10% to 2.8 seconds. 2.8 seconds to 60mph in a car that makes absolutely no noise!
“It’s faster than falling,” Musk light-heartedly comments “It’s like having your own private rollercoaster.” For the privilege, Model Ss will set you back around $105,000, with the more affordable cars in the Tesla range also offering similar levels of madness.
