The Increasingly Spacious Tesla Model Y

Its larger sibling may have left the shore, but Model Y makes its presence with an additional third-row seating option in the UK, for a £2,500 premium. Tesla’s decision to render the Model Y with increased practicality aligns with the disappearance of the more voluminous Model X in the region.

Higher Utility for an Extra Price

The new seven-seater configuration will be exclusively available for the Long Range All-Wheel Drive variant of the Model Y, with retail prices commencing at £51,990. The limited availability of seven-seat electric vehicles (EVs) in this price band positions the Model Y against prospective competitors like the Mercedes EQB and the E-5008.

Losing Space to Gain Seats

Even though we have yet to witness the Model Y’s third row in person, the rear seating does appear quite snug. If you opt for the extra seating, you might have to sacrifice around 100 litres of your boot space. Nevertheless, Tesla ensures a fairly convenient 363 litres of space remains intact even with the third row in use. When the third row seats are down, the storage space expands dramatically to 753 litres.

Prospective Model Y Facelift

Tesla is likely to introduce a revamped Model Y model sometime next year. This leaves potential buyers with a crucial decision to make – the upcoming Model Y or the Mercedes EQB? Tesla’s continual innovations and the forward-thinking approach to its vehicle designs keep the market on its toes, with keen observers constantly anticipating their next big announcement.
