As the electric vehicle (EV) industry continues to redefine what it means to be on the road, Spanish car manufacturer CUPRA is rewriting the rules with a touch of rebellion. Introducing the CUPRA Raval, a name inspired by the vibrant streets of Barcelona’s Raval district. This piece will delve into the key features and specifications of the Raval, offering an objective and industry-informed opinion on the vehicle’s position within the EV landscape.
“The Raval is one of the most surprising parts of Barcelona. And today, we are proud that the brand’s future urban electric car will have its name and represent its spirit. Just as we did with the CUPRA Born, we now want to express the essence of the Raval and continue to inspire the world from Barcelona,” explained Wayne Griffiths.

A Car for a New Generation
When it comes to electric vehicle innovation, CUPRA is a game-changer. The Raval, born from the UrbanRebel concept, caters to the expectation of ‘Gen Z’ for something more emotional. True to its namesake, the Raval is an urban, rebellious, and 100% electric vehicle built to challenge the status quo.
“The CUPRA Raval is not just another car. It is an invitation to a new generation, which expects something better. An urban, rebellious and 100% electric car, with its own character and linked to ‘Gen Z’. Something that’s more emotional,” said Wayne Griffiths.
Performance Overview
At the heart of any high-performance EV lies its powertrain and battery capabilities. Although the specifics are yet to be released, knowing CUPRA’s commitment to engaging driving experiences and exceptional range, the Raval will likely impress. We anticipate it will boast a competitive range and acceleration times, leveraging VW Group’s MEB Small platform’s technology.

Barcelona Spirit
CUPRA’s deep ties to Barcelona are reflected in its vehicles, with the Raval being no exception. Wayne Griffiths, CEO of SEAT and CUPRA, expresses the Raval’s ambition to capture the essence of Barcelona and inspire the world with its spirit.
Impressive First Quarter
The announcement of the CUPRA Raval aligns with SEAT S.A’s spectacular first quarter, recording an operating profit of €144 million and a turnover of €3.6 billion, representing a 48% increase compared to the first quarter of 2022. This impressive financial growth is attributed to the success of the CUPRA brand, which sold 46,600 units during Q1 2023.
The CUPRA Raval, representing a fusion of electrification and sportiness, is set to make waves in the urban EV market. Its promising features, combined with CUPRA’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and performance, makes it a highly anticipated addition to the brand’s line-up. However, it remains to be seen how it stacks up against the continually advancing EV industry.
