has given electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts another enticing machine to crave, extending their portfolio with the new Polestar 3 Long range Single motor. This latest addition offers a fascinating juxtaposition of premium features, potent power, and remarkable range, all for an entry-level price of £69,900.

A New Dawn for Polestar 3 Line-up

Polestar’s latest addition to its 3 line-up, designed in China and the USA, breaks the ice with a £69,900 price tag, providing a fresh alternative for EV aficionados. As stated by Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, this model aims to be an attractive entry-point to Polestar’s flagship electric SUV range. This new variant retains the brand’s performance-focused driving dynamics, while still being a rear-wheel drive.

Under the Bonnet

The Polestar 3 Long range Single motor is fitted with a sturdy 111 kWh battery pack, mirroring its Dual Motor counterpart. It boasts a remarkable 250 kW peak charging capability, translating to a quick half-hour journey from 10% to 80% charging on DC. This efficient powerhouse offers a class-leading 403 miles (WLTP**) range. Its rear axle is powered by a 220 kW motor, producing 490 Nm of torque, which propels the vehicle from a standstill to 62 mph in a mere 7.8 seconds. It’s not just about acceleration, though – the Polestar 3 Long range Single motor employs a similar Brembo braking system to the rest of the Polestar 3 range.

Customisation and Advanced Technology

With the debut of MY25 line-up, potential buyers can personalise their Polestar 3, choosing from six exterior colours, five interior rooms and four wheel options. Further, the introduction of the new Pro Pack offers a new 21-inch alloy wheel option. Pilot Pack with LiDAR from Luminar is also available for order, providing increased safety and convenience.

The new Polestar 3 Long range Single motor is a well-executed blend of performance, luxury, and functionality. It balances a reasonable entry price with impressive technical specifications, good range, and customisation options, while its charging capabilities are a testament to Polestar’s commitment to ease of use. Yet, its rear-wheel drive configuration may not be to everyone’s liking, and its 7.8 seconds 0-62 mph acceleration is decent but not outstanding in the EV market. This new model is nonetheless a welcome addition to the Polestar 3 line-up and a great entry point to high-end electric SUVs.
