One App to Rule Them All
Polestar has quietly built Europe’s most comprehensive charging network, with its Polestar Charge service now offering access to over 1 million public charge points across the continent. For UK drivers, that means 68,000 charging stations at your fingertips – including Tesla Superchargers for the first time.
The service eliminates the need for multiple charging apps and RFID cards, combining everything into one slick interface that’s built directly into Polestar’s Google-based infotainment system.
Why This Matters for EV Drivers
Beyond convenience, Polestar Charge offers some serious benefits:
- 30% discount at 6,500 premium chargers (IONITY, InstaVolt, Fastned etc.)
- Plug & Charge functionality (just plug in and it automatically bills you)
- Route planning with charging stops optimized in Google Maps
- No markup on electricity prices at most locations
The subscription service costs £9.99/month, but the savings easily outweigh the cost for regular public chargers. At an IONITY station, subscribers pay just 35p/kWh versus the standard 50p/kWh.
The Tech Behind the Service
Recent Polestar models (2026MY 2 and all 3s) take this further with Plug & Charge capability. This game-changing feature means:
- Plug in cable
- Charging automatically starts
- Your Polestar account gets billed
No apps, no cards, no messing with contactless payments in the rain. It’s the closest thing to petrol station convenience EVs have offered yet.
Network Coverage Breakdown
The 1 million chargers include:
- All Tesla Superchargers (newly added this month)
- IONITY’s premium 350kW stations
- Local networks like Pod Point and Source London
- Supermarket chargers (Sainsbury’s, MFG, Applegreen)
Interestingly, Polestar has focused on quality over quantity – while some apps boast more chargers, Polestar verifies each location’s reliability before listing.
For current Polestar owners, the service is live now in 15 European markets including the UK.
The app is available on iOS and Android, or built directly into your Polestar’s dash.
