It seems like once again, Japan is quietly leading the marketplace based on statistics released by Nissan recently.

Because a survey just undertaken by the carmaker suggests that electric charging points have now overtaken petrol station facilities in the Land of the Rising Sun. Welcome to the future…

According to the findings, there are now 40,000 places to give your silent-but-violent EV a boost in the country now, as opposed to the mere 35,000-odd petrol stations. Pathetic! It’s probably important to note here, though, that this does include personal charging ports located in people’s houses, which are often limited to be used by just one car only.

Still, it’s reassuring to see the most hi-tech country in the world putting together a seriously impressive infrastructure for electric cars. And it’s only set to continue…
