More beats per mile: how a DJ used EVs to cut his running costs

-

When Cornwall-based pro DJ Ross Winhall finally sold up his old diesel van and replaced it with a cutting edge electric Nissan e-NV200, he probably had no idea what a brilliant move he’d just made.

By going electric, Ross has more than halved his once-pricey transport costs to get him and his gear to and from gigs, which used to often set up back over £250 in his old van.

“I was spending hundreds of pounds on diesel every month just getting to and from gigs,” he tells us. “Now my running costs are almost non-existent and I can charge for free at many service stations.”

The saving is paying off Ross’ lease on the brand new van, meaning that the move seems to be a complete no-brainer.

The van is based on the conventionally-powered NV200, and uses the same proven tech found in the Leaf road car. The fact that it could be passed off as a conventional van only adds to the appeal in our eyes.

We love hearing success stories of how EVs have trumped over ‘normal’ cars in day-to-day life, and would love to hear yours. So get in touch if you’ve had a similar experience!
