With the rate that electric cars are moving on, this is a news story that was kind of inevitable. But nonetheless, it’s got us all giddy in the office this afternoon!
As super-hacker and Model S owner Jason Hughes was scouring through the updated code on his car this week, he spotted that apparent software had been put in place for a newer, faster model which may soon make an appearance – the P100D. He even found the new logo for the car buried in the coding!
Taking to twitter to shout about his findings, he was awarded with a reply from Elon Musk himself: “Good hacking is a gift,” enough to confirm the rumours for many.
What can we expect from a 100kWh-powered car? 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds? Perhaps even less? How about this monstrous drivetrain in the upcoming compact Model 3? Now that would be something…
At the rate these cars are improving, it really doesn’t seem unlikely that we’ll be seeing something like the P10000D by 2025. All we can do now, though, is watch this space…
