MG marked its centenary celebrations with a high-powered, high-voltage display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, unveiling three electrifying global debuts: the Cyberster roadster, the MG4 EV XPOWER, and the EX4 concept car. Designed and produced with an emphasis on performance, the new releases merge MG’s iconic heritage with cutting-edge technology, offering a tantalising glimpse into the future of electric motoring.
An Electrifying Showcase
MG’s return to Goodwood was marked by three world debutantes, each illustrating the brand’s foray into electric sportiness. The Cyberster roadster, MG4 EV XPOWER, and the EX4 concept car all made their first public appearances, wowing the crowd with their innovative design and breakneck acceleration.
The Power Players
The MG4 XPOWER, the most potent MG production car to date, delivers a staggering 435PS and 600Nm of torque, courtesy of its advanced dual motor configuration. This innovative design allows for all-wheel-drive and a rapid 0-62mph acceleration time of just 3.8 seconds.

MG’s homage to the legendary Metro 6R4 rally, the EX4 concept, was another Goodwood standout. It mirrors the dynamic styling of its ancestor but repurposes it for the EV era, supported by the MG4 XPOWER’s potent electric drivetrain. The result is a car that honours its forebears while thoughtfully reimagining them for a new reality.
MG’s audacious display at Goodwood this year has certainly attracted attention towards their promising EV line-up. However, in the ever-competitive EV market, it remains to be seen if these vehicles, with their powerful performance and distinctive design, can convert the thrill of the festival into long-term success.
