Mercedes’ ‘dangerously fast’ Model S-beater is coming…

-

Mercedes hasn’t been the quietest company when it comes to EV development. We’ve already seen a huge amount of hybrid options made available across the firm’s luxury range of cars, along with the bonkers F 015 concept you can see in the photo here.

When it comes to fully electric cars, though, we’ve been eagerly awaiting news from the company for a while now as to how it plans to deal with the pesky Tesla-branded fly that has inconveniently come to try and ruin its party. Let’s face it: the Model S falls pretty closely to cars like the Mercedes S Class, which can’t have gone down too well, can it?

Talking to Motoring.com.au today, the firm’s Head of Corporate Communications, David McCarthy, teased that we’ll be seeing a Model S-rival concept saloon as soon as September (ahead of the Paris Motor Show).

And what gives Merc the upper hand? Manufacturing limitations, as McCarthy explained: “Tesla’s challenge will be making the numbers of cars they say they’re going to make in the time frame they say they’re going to make them,” he was heard saying.

Oh, and in case you were worried the car might be a little dull in comparison to the crazy Model S, the same website quotes Mercedes head honchos describing how the car will be “dangerously fast.” Sounds good to us…
