We always had an inkling that the Geneva Motor Show would be full of crazy hybrid and EV madness. And with cars like this promising to be there, we’re starting to think we were right…
The insane Lexus LC 500 was confirmed as a road car a few months back, complete with the normally aspirated running gear from the rather fiery RC F coupé. But in a strange twist, the posh Toyota firm has now announced that a hybrid version of the very same car will be unveiled at the Swiss show in a few weeks, under the imaginative name ‘LC 500h’.
Will it retain the monstrous V8 along with an electric boost? Or will it be more of a sombre Prius-style affiar under the slender bonnet? Rumours are abound that the hybrid system may act like a Porsche 918’s – filling in between the lag in power of a combustion engine. Others reckon the electric motors will only power the front wheels to add to stability round the twisties. Either way, we’re sure that this time at least, ‘hybrid’ will represent ‘more performance’.
And just looking at the thing, we think we might have found the coolest looking EV yet…
