Kia‘s electric revolution isn’t slowing down. Fresh from unveiling bold SUVs like the EV9, the brand is now turning its attention to something sleeker—the Kia EV4. Designed as a stylish, efficiency-focused alternative to the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6, it’s a fully electric saloon promising up to 391 miles of range.
A Bold Design That Stands Out
Kia has been on a roll with its design language, and the EV4 continues that trend. It’s a sharp, aggressive-looking saloon with a fastback-style silhouette, meaning a sloping roofline that merges into the boot. The front end carries Kia’s now-familiar “Tiger Face” lighting signature, with slim LED headlights giving it a futuristic feel.
Short overhangs, bold creases, and a muscular stance make the EV4 look more dynamic than traditional saloons. Kia isn’t trying to copy Tesla here—it’s going its own way, blending coupe-like proportions with a hint of four-door practicality. The rear gets a full-width light bar, something that’s quickly becoming a Kia EV signature.
A Minimalist, Tech-Filled Cabin
Inside, the EV4 leans heavily on Kia’s minimalist philosophy. The dashboard is clean, with a large curved display merging the digital driver’s cluster and infotainment system into a single unit. Kia has kept physical buttons to a minimum, opting instead for haptic controls on the centre console.
Sustainable materials take centre stage, with recycled plastics and plant-based textiles replacing traditional leather and synthetic trims. The flat floor means there’s plenty of space, while the clever use of ambient lighting and contrasting materials keeps things feeling premium.
Expect Kia’s latest connected tech, including over-the-air updates, advanced driver assistance systems, and an improved voice assistant. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are a given, while the EV4 should also support Kia’s new digital key, letting drivers unlock and start the car via their smartphone.
Power, Range, and Performance
The EV4 is expected to use a similar powertrain setup to the Kia EV6, meaning 201bhp from a single motor in the standard version, with a possible dual-motor AWD variant pushing power beyond 300bhp. Kia hasn’t confirmed final figures, but a 0-62mph time of around 7 seconds for the entry-level model seems likely.
The real headline, though, is the range. Kia claims the EV4 will offer up to 391 miles on a full charge in its long-range version, putting it ahead of many rivals in the segment. That’s thanks to an efficient battery pack and slick aerodynamics.
Charging won’t be an issue either. With 800V architecture, the EV4 should support ultra-fast DC charging, meaning a 10-80% charge in under 25 minutes when plugged into a high-speed charger. Kia’s vehicle-to-load (V2L) tech is also expected, letting owners power external devices directly from the car’s battery.
Where Does It Fit in Kia’s Line-Up?
Kia’s EV strategy is shaping up nicely. The EV4 slots below the EV6, offering a more affordable entry into the brand’s electric saloon lineup. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed, but expect a starting price around £40,000, making it a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6.
With its sharp design, long range, and premium tech, the Kia EV4 has the potential to shake up the market when it arrives in late 2025 or early 2026. If Kia can deliver on its promises, the EV4 might just be one of the most compelling electric saloons yet.
