Renowned Korean automaker, , is preparing a significant strike on the electric car market with its latest creation, the Inster. This petite yet powerful electric vehicle (EV) is available from just £23,495 or an affordable £249 per month on PCP finance. With its competitive pricing and impressive features, Hyundai is demonstrating its commitment to making EVs accessible to all.

A New Kid on the Block

The Inster is based on the Hyundai Casper, a small city car previously available solely with a petrol engine in Korea. The Casper’s platform has been extended by 230mm to accommodate the Inster’s underfloor battery pack, enhancing both usability and efficiency.

Measuring 3.8m in length, 1.6m in width, and 1.6m in height, the Inster falls between the Spring and the Citroën ë-C3 in size. However, its clever design ensures that it competes head-to-head with larger five-seaters, thanks to its interior configuration.

Versatile Interiors

Inside the Inster, versatility reigns. Each of its four seats can be completely flattened, and the rear seats can be adjusted for slide and recline. This feature not only adds to passenger comfort but also offers additional boot space when required.

Performance and Range

Hyundai offers two variants of the Inster at launch. The entry-level model comes with a 96bhp front-mounted motor, delivering a 0-62mph sprint in 11.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 87mph. This model includes a 42kWh battery pack, offering a range of 186 miles between charges.

The top-tier ‘long range’ Inster gets a performance boost to 113bhp and comes with a 49kWh battery pack. Its range extends to 217 miles, its top speed increases to 93mph, and its 0-62mph time is reduced to 10.6 seconds.

Technologically Advanced

Hyundai is confident that the Inster’s connectivity and onboard technologies will help it stand out amongst competitors. Each variant comes with dual 10.25in digital displays for instruments and infotainment, and users can use their smartphone as a key to unlock and start the car.
