We’ve been pondering for some time just when Honda was going to get on the EV bandwagon and announce that it was working on some electric-powered cars.
Sure, we’ve got the gorgeous new hybrid NSX, which it seems we’ve been waiting for for approximately half of our lifetimes, but this development period has at least helped Honda in developing other electric-based concepts lower down in its range.
This is the latest and most promising story yet from the big H – a compact sports car concept, based loosely on the all-electric CR-Z race car seen at this year’s Pikes Peak motorsport event, and boasting Honda’s SH AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive).
The race car used an electric motor to power each wheel individually, which left around 440bhp at the driver’s disposal. The road-going concept is being shown off this weekend at the Tokyo Motor Show, and is said to boast around 350bhp. The aim is to give the car a range of at least 300 miles and a 0-60mph time of around 3.5 seconds before the car reaches production.
