The Corniche was once the epitome of effortless luxury, gracing the roads with a level of refinement few could match. Now, more than 60 years after its debut, a new name in the world of high-end automotive craftsmanship, Halcyon, is bringing the Corniche into the 21st century with a meticulous all-electric remaster. With cutting-edge EV technology, bespoke craftsmanship, and a deep respect for Rolls-Royce heritage, Halcyon’s limited run of 60 commissions offers a fresh take on one of Britain’s most iconic cars.

Luxury, Reimagined

Halcyon, a newly introduced brand under Ltd, has made it their mission to rework classic Rolls-Royce models with a modern twist, starting with the Corniche and Silver Shadow. Each car undergoes an extensive restoration and electrification process, blending traditional coachbuilding techniques with state-of-the-art engineering. The result? A vehicle that retains its original charm while offering the kind of refinement, reliability, and performance expected of a modern luxury car.

Matthew Pearson, CEO of Halcyon, summarises their approach:

“Throughout its storied 120-year history, Rolls-Royce has earned a reputation for smooth, refined, and quiet power. Drawing on that legacy, we have seamlessly integrated cutting-edge electric technology to remaster and elevate a select few of their most iconic cars.”

At the heart of the transformation is Halcyon’s proprietary 800-Volt electric architecture, producing up to 500 horsepower and delivering over 250 miles of range. The car’s drivetrain has been carefully developed to ensure smooth acceleration, while the addition of active suspension and upgraded braking systems maintains the Corniche’s legendary “magic carpet” ride.

Blending Heritage with Innovation

While the exterior remains true to the original design, Halcyon has introduced subtle refinements, handmade chrome bumpers, revised lighting elements, and a meticulously finished body, to ensure the Corniche’s timeless lines are preserved. Inside, the cabin has been completely reimagined, integrating modern comforts such as climate control, cruise control, and a bespoke audio system. A concealed infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay ensures the driver can enjoy modern connectivity without disrupting the classic aesthetic.

Charlie Metcalfe, COO of Halcyon, highlights the delicate balance they aimed to achieve:

“The original exterior was so close to perfect that we took a ‘less is more’ approach and made only subtle refinements. The real opportunity lay inside, where we integrated the very best technologies with a design language inspired by the best of British automotive heritage.”

A standout feature of the interior is the bespoke exhibition panel running across the dashboard, offering owners the opportunity to commission unique art pieces, one of many ways each build can be tailored to reflect its owner’s personality.

Exclusivity Comes at a Price

With only 60 examples set to be built, the Halcyon Corniche is an ultra-exclusive offering. Each build will take around 12 months, with over 1,000 hours of restoration dedicated to the bodywork alone. Prices start at £395,000, excluding the donor vehicle and local taxes. For those who don’t yet own a Corniche, Halcyon offers a sourcing service to find the perfect starting point.

Production is scheduled to begin in late 2025, with the first customer deliveries expected in Q4 2026. With holding deposits now being placed, this could be one of the most sought-after restomod projects in recent years.

A New Era for a British Icon

Bringing a classic Rolls-Royce into the electric age is no small task, but Halcyon’s approach seems to strike the right balance between heritage and progress. The idea of a Corniche gliding silently through city streets, free from the constraints of ageing petrol engines, is undeniably intriguing. If the execution matches the ambition, this could be one of the most exciting luxury EV projects to hit the road in the coming years.
