The Audi RS6 e-tron Unveiled

Prepare for the exciting launch of the new RS6 e-tron, slated for next year. The electric vehicle’s reveal recently had 1,000 managers at Group in a frenzy of anticipation. What sets this EV apart? A wider track, larger wheels, and – you guessed it – an electric powertrain.

The EV sedan, as disclosed by Marc Lichte, Audi’s design chief, will possess distinct features that differentiate it from the soon-to-be-released A6 e-tron. Impressively, both models utilise the VW Group’s PPE platform.

More Than Just An Electric Sedan

The A6 e-tron is expected to boast a powerful 100kWh battery, with an impressive range of up to 435 miles. As for performance, the top models promise to achieve 0-62mph in less than four seconds.

During a sneak peek of the Audi activesphere concept in Munich, Lichte hinted that the upcoming RS6 e-tron would offer “different” performance. Although he didn’t elaborate further, it’s not far-fetched to predict that this new variant could very well exceed the current models’ performance.

Design and Functionality

Lichte was more descriptive about the RS6 e-tron’s appearance and function. “RS is all about the combination between performance and functionality. I love the RS6 because I can put bikes inside, skis – so many things. And for me, it’s always about the wide track,” he explained. Lichte couldn’t hide his enthusiasm as he hinted at the excitement around the upcoming RS EVs.

According to Lichte, the A6 e-tron concept displayed in April 2021 represented “90 per cent” of what the final product would look like. Despite this, he refers to it as the “narrow body”, alluding to the expected design differences in the RS6 e-tron variant.

When questioned about his favourite vehicle currently, Lichte admitted it was a tie between the e-tron GT and the ongoing RS6. However, he confesses that this preference may shift towards the RS6 e-tron in the future.

In an era of evolving automotive technology, anticipation for the Audi RS6 e-tron is mounting. With its impending launch next year, we can’t wait to see what this new breed of Audi brings to the electric vehicle market. So, stay tuned as we bring you more on this electrifying development!
