Electric barge
When you watch reviews of the latest extravagant luxo-barge from the likes of Rolls Royce and Bentley, a phrase you’re almost guaranteed to hear at least once goes along the lines of ‘the engine is just so quiet and smooth!’.
Funny then, that it’s taken so long for such firms to dabble in electric powertrains. We’ve been saying for a while now that a beefy electric motor setup is the perfect choice for a chauffer car – no unnecessary aural distractions for you VIP passenger to frown upon as you whisk them to their important destination in a suitably brisk manner.
One of the biggest surprises of the Geneva Motor Show, Bentley’s EXP 12 Speed 6e, shouldn’t actually be much of a surprise at all, then. The firm’s first ever electric car concept promises to bring high performance luxury to the EV world. And boy, does it deliver…
Exquisite EV
First up, just look at the thing: a stunning, roofless roadster that remains typically Bentley in its grand styling while boasting some beautiful sports car proportions. Inside, things are even more outlandish; the car’s deep burgundy leather interior oozing regal drawing room décor vibes, while laced with all the clever tech you’d expect from an EV concept.
This car doesn’t have Siri, it has an ‘on-board concierge service’, of course. The curved glass centre console is made up for OLED screens, and even the passenger gets their own personal entertainment facilities embedded in their side of the dash board.
But the most exciting part of the interior? It has to be the rocket ship button on the top of the steering wheel: said to boost performance a la Ludicrous Mode when you’ve really got to get away from the paparazzi.
Although the firm has no intentions to produce the EXP, it is keen to hear what you think about such a project becoming more of a reality. So head on over to its website now to have your say…
