Romain Dumas, renowned for his intense affair with rapid electric cars, has proven yet again that quick lap times aren’t solely the domain of supercars. Under his mastery, the seemingly unassuming SuperVan 4.2 has astonishingly clocked a series of lap records at the Mount Panorama circuit in Australia.

No Ordinary Commercial Vehicle

This is no ordinary van, but a new breed of high-performance electric vehicles. It took down several records including the fastest lap by a closed-wheel vehicle, besting even a de-restricted Mercedes-AMG GT3. Apart from the fastest electric vehicle, it also achieved the quickest commercial vehicle around the 3.86-mile circuit.

SuperVan 4.2: Not Your Average Transit

Don’t let its guise fool you. Beneath the shell of the SuperVan 4.2 rests the heart of a racing beast. Equipped with an impressive trio of electric motors, the van boasts a whopping 2,000bhp – an awe-inspiring figure for a van. Its aerodynamics are simply delectable. During the Bathurst 500 event, it clocked a lap in 1m 56.32s and even reached beyond 186mph (300kph) on the Mountain and Conrod straights. This is not your mundane delivery vehicle; it’s a Transit that transcends the ordinary.

Dumas: The Man Behind the Wheel

“No one has ever driven a vehicle like SuperVan 4.2 around Mount Panorama, and certainly not this quickly,” said Dumas, the man responsible for pushing the SuperVan 4.2 to these mind-boggling speeds. “This is the first time I have driven SuperVan 4.2 faster than 300kph, and we left nothing on the table as we pushed for the fastest lap possible.”

As the EV world continues to redefine performance metrics, the Ford SuperVan 4.2’s thrilling record-setting run at Mount Panorama stands as evidence to the unlimited potential of electric power.
