A Dazzling Revival of the C111

Amid the ever-expanding cosmos of the electric car industry, Mercedes subtly leans on its illustrious heritage while simultaneously marching into the future. The car in question? The striking Vision One-Eleven concept. A tribute to the iconic 1969 C111, the Vision One-Eleven is more than a mere imitation; it’s an electrifying reinterpretation.

Chief Design Officer of Mercedes, Gorden Wagener, emphasises that the Vision One-Eleven isn’t merely about reviving past glory, but about effectively using their rich legacy as a launchpad for innovation, especially in the realm of electrification.

A Design That Saves the Past and Plans the Future

Borrowing from the golden era of Mercedes, the Vision One-Eleven creates a harmonious blend of the past and the future. Containing elements of the C111’s characteristic citrus hue, the Vision car also incorporates modern design elements such as the YASA axial flux motors on each wheel and a significant battery pack, whose capacity is currently undisclosed.

The Vision One-Eleven goes a step further by revolutionising the mid-engined format – innovatively pushing the boundaries of Mercedes’ ‘one-bow’ design philosophy. The end product is a single-surface vehicle where the roof and body are essentially one, with the only exception being the distinctly visible wheel arches.

A Modern Artistry Philosophy – ‘Sensual Purity’

The Vision One-Eleven emanates a sense of ‘sensual purity’, as described by Wagener. With its minimalist aesthetics, mammoth gullwing doors, and pixel-patterned side windows, it’s a vehicle that effortlessly conveys luxury. The design is further enhanced by graphic aero components on the underbody and LED lights that beautifully blend nostalgia with a glimpse into the future.

Power-packed Performance and Visionary Interiors

The Vision One-Eleven boasts a striking interior that is a fusion of the 1960s and the 1980s sci-fi influences, combining elements from classic films such as Barbarella, A Clockwork Orange, and The Fifth Element. The interior is adorned with sustainable, eco-friendly materials like recycled polyester and orange leather tanned using coffee bean husks.

An Exciting Step into the Future of Luxury Automobiles

The Vision One-Eleven not only betokens Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to navigating the future of automotive technology with grace and vision, but it also underscores their dedication to providing a luxurious experience. Whether it’s through the creation of NFTs live at Mercedes’ design studio or the launch of a ‘Limited edition 1 of 111’ lifestyle collection, Mercedes continues to break new ground while respecting their rich heritage.

In conclusion, the Vision One-Eleven isn’t just an updated C111. It’s a testament to Mercedes’ ability to meld its glorious past with an electrifying future. As the world eagerly waits to see what else the German automotive giant has in store, it’s clear that the Vision One-Eleven is just the beginning of an exciting journey into the era of luxury electric vehicles.
