The UK’s electric car grant has been shrinking since its introduction, but there are still significant savings to be made on new EVs. While the government contribution has reduced, several manufacturers are stepping up with their own discounts and incentives to keep electric cars affordable. Here’s your complete guide to what’s currently available.
Leapmotor’s Leap Grant
Leapmotor is bypassing government uncertainty by offering its own £3,750 discount on the C10 SUV, reducing the price to £32,750. While still pricier than rivals like the Skoda Elroq, it undercuts many premium EVs.
The tiny T03 city car also gets a £1,500 price cut, now starting at £14,995—the same as a Dacia Spring but with more standard kit.
MG’s £1,500 Discounts
MG is slashing £1,500 off the MG4 and new MG S5 EV, on top of existing offers. The MG4—a former Carwow Car of the Year—now starts at £25,500, over £5k cheaper than a VW ID.3.
GWM’s Green Grant: £3,750 Off Ora 03
Great Wall Motors (GWM) is offering a £3,750 Green Grant on the funky Ora 03, including the sporty GT trim. The base model now starts at £21,245—£10k less than a Volvo EX30.
Skywell’s Double Discount on BE11
Newcomer Skywell is stacking a £3,750 grant match on top of its existing £6,000 deposit contribution for the BE11 SUV. Combined, the price drops from £36,995 to £27,245.
Volkswagen’s £1,500 ‘Grant Guarantee’
VW is offering £1,500 off ID.3 and ID.4 if the government grant doesn’t apply—but you can’t combine both discounts.
“We want customers to benefit now,” says VW UK’s Rod McLeod.
Skoda Matches VW’s Offer
Following VW, Skoda is also giving £1,500 off the Elroq and Enyaq, under the same conditions (no double-dipping with the government grant).
Smart’s £1,500 Discount on #1 & #3
Smart is offering £1,500 off the #1 and #3 EVs, stacking with existing £2,000 dealer discounts for £3,500 total savings on the #1.
Volvo’s £1,500 EX30 Cut
Volvo is trimming £1,500 off all EX30 models, from the base single-motor to the Performance variant.
Kia’s £3,750 EV3 Air Discount
Kia has boosted its deposit contribution to £3,750 on the EV3 Air, available until 30 September 2025.
Hyundai’s £3,750 Inster Grant
Hyundai is slashing £3,750 off the Inster, bringing it down to £23,500, plus £1,500 off other EVs like the Kona and Ioniq 9.
