Citroën has unveiled a fresh addition to its electric Ami range, currently available for order in the UK. The new Ami Peps comes with a new body colour, an innovative cargo module, and a starting price of £8,595. But does this latest entrant live up to the hype?

Evolving Palette: Night Sepia

As Citroën’s Ami electric vehicle (EV) celebrates four years, it’s adopting a new cloak- the Night Sepia shade, replacing the erstwhile Ami Blue. This meeting point of brown and grey lends Ami an enigmatic allure, playing with natural and warm tones, and may be a fresh stylistic choice for buyers. However, will it resonate with the stylish EV-oriented crowd? Only time will tell.

Meet the New Kid: My Ami Peps

The premium My Ami Peps joins the Ami family, pledging an urban flair with sporty features and a novel style. Alongside standard Ami and the mid-range My Ami in Orange, Grey, and Blue, My Ami Peps brings yellow and red accents, wheel covers, rear spoiler and other aesthetic elements, hopeful of turning heads and wooing buyers.

The interior isn’t left behind either, with practical measures like storage bins, a smartphone clip, and door nets. The My Connect and My Ami Play interfaces aim to merge your phone with the vehicle, enabling easier navigation, calls and music. However, as touchscreens and voice commands become the norm, is this ‘smartphone-as-a-dashboard’ concept a step ahead or a step back?

Doing More with My Ami Cargo Kit

Citroën’s new ingenious modular kit has been introduced to transform any passenger Ami into a cargo configuration in 5 minutes. The kit, priced at £259, allows for a payload of up to 200 litres under the net and a total volume of 340 litres, providing a degree of versatility. With this kit, the Ami promises a double life as both a passenger commuter and a goods carrier. Still, how practical is this conversion in day-to-day life?

To Ami or Not to Ami

Citroën’s Ami Peps comes with multiple features that could appeal to the EV enthusiasts, and its price tag might be enticing to budget-conscious buyers. While the Night Sepia colour and My Ami Cargo Kit provide a novel touch, it remains to be seen how these enhancements will fare in the competitive EV market.

For existing and potential Ami owners, Citroën continues to push boundaries, adding layers of adaptability and uniqueness to its vehicles. We eagerly await consumer feedback on these enhanced features, and as always, the proof will be in the driving.
