The Beeb has today “reluctantly” announced that it will not air next year’s Formula 1 racing on UK television.
Cutting its contract three years early, the rights have now been bought by Channel 4 to continue airing the motorsport.
The move comes as the firm is put under increasing amounts of pressure to save money, being asked to find around £35m worth of savings by next year.
This is an extremely interesting move for Formula E fans, as it hints at the fact that F1 viewing figures may have been dwindling in recent years, whilst Formula E views only continue to rise.
Now all we need is FE to be screened on a slightly more mainstream channel, and we’re laughing…
