The Q4 e-tron from Audi, a renowned automaker, has seen significant updates for the 2024 model. The electric vehicle showcases an impressive combination of improved efficiency, sporting an innovative suspension, optimized drivetrain, increased charging power, and an extended range. As part of Audi’s strategic growth plan, these advancements have greatly contributed to the company’s noteworthy 51.2% increase in Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) delivery in the first half of 2023.
A Deep Dive into Change: Features & Performance
The 2024 Q4 e-tron models uphold Audi’s legacy of high-end, quality vehicles, with significant enhancements setting them apart.
Key among the improvements is the large battery that powers all Q4 e-tron models, providing 77kWh of net energy. Its optimized cell chemistry allows for faster charging times – a substantial improvement from previous models. Under ideal conditions, the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 28 minutes, with the quattro models achieving a maximum DC charging power of 175kW, and the rear-wheel drive models peaking at 135kW.
Under the Bonnet: Technical Specifications
These advances come primarily from the newly developed permanently excited synchronous machine (PSM) featured in the Q4 e-tron models. The PSM boosts efficiency and power, resulting in a notably superior power delivery and increased range.
The Audi Q4 45 e-tron and Audi Q4 Sportback 45 e-tron models offer an impressive 286 PS and can accelerate from 0-62 mph in a relatively short 6.7 seconds. Notably, the Sportback version is capable of reaching up to 339 miles on the WLTP cycle.
The Audi Q4 55 e-tron quattro and Audi Q4 Sportback 55 e-tron quattro models, considered the top-of-the-range, are powerhouses delivering a massive 340 PS. They can go from 0-62mph in merely 5.4 seconds, making them one of the fastest models in their class.
Further enhancing comfort and stability, these models showcase Audi’s characteristic DNA with updated suspension. The new tuning of the spring/shock absorber and steering provide a more solid, balanced driving experience, with the Audi Q4 e-tron models reacting quickly to steering changes for enhanced sportiness and agility.
There’s no doubt that the enhancements to the 2024 Audi Q4 e-tron models signify a promising future for electric vehicles. The improved efficiency, speed, and extended range are clear indicators of the growth and technological advancements in the electric vehicle sector. However, one must consider the high purchase price which may deter potential buyers. Overall, the Q4 e-tron is a testament to Audi’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle performance and heralds a new era of speed and efficiency.
By the end of the decade, Audi plans to produce at least one fully electric model at each of its plants and is striving to achieve net carbon-neutral production by 2025, as it has already accomplished in Brussels and Győr.
