Look out electric vehicle enthusiasts, Acura is taking a significant leap into the EV sphere with the development of a new innovative electric SUV. Details have just surfaced that the brand is using the iconic NSX as inspiration for this exciting development.

Introducing the Acura Performance EV Concept, which undeniably bears a striking similarity to the Eletre. From its well-crafted front bumper design, one could mistake it for a long-awaited SUV if it weren’t for the branded badge.

Crucially, this cutting-edge concept is expected to lay the groundwork for Acura’s upcoming EV, set to go into production in late 2025. This new release will pioneer a -developed EV platform and be the first-ever EV assembled at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio, USA.

The concept reveals what the Acura Design Studio in Los Angeles is truly capable of, showcasing impressive design elements such as a vented bonnet and side vents, along with a sleek, pointed front end that draws inspiration from hydrofoil super-yachts. At the rear of this futuristic vehicle, a small lip spoiler, a full-width lightbar, and a diffuser can be spotted, all of which pay tribute to the second-generation NSX.

In terms of size, the model sports 23-inch wheels, high-performance drilled brakes complete with white callipers, and a unique semi-matte ‘Moonlit White Pearl’ exterior paint that altogether amplifies its sophisticated super-yacht-on-wheels persona.

Interestingly, unlike its predecessor, the ZDX (Acura’s first EV), the Performance EV Concept will not utilise the Ultium platform or any other General Motors parts. However, as of now, there are no confirmed details on the vehicle’s powertrain.

With Acura’s Performance EV Concept setting a high standard, the anticipation surrounding their next fully electric SUV is rising steadily.
