The upcoming Porsche Macan is all set to stun the world with a bold electric declaration. As shared in the company’s recent announcement regarding its electric journey, this new all-electric Macan is primed for testing and boasts of a whopping power potential of 600bhp.
A Boost in the Design Structure
Taking a leaf from the Porsche Taycan, the forthcoming Macan will flaunt an 800-volt architecture. This critical adjustment results in lighter cables and allows the 100kWh battery to go from 0-80% charge in a mere 25 minutes. With a power delivery of up to 270kW, the Macan is expected to charge even faster than the Taycan.
The Innovation in Charging
The Macan comes equipped with an advanced charging technology. Even though the technical aspects may seem complicated, the essence lies in the car’s ability to prepare the battery for charging. Further, if the used charger is only 400V, the car is capable of altering the necessary switches, allowing the 800V battery to virtually divide into two 400V batteries.
Breaking Grounds With PPE
Porsche, in partnership with Audi, has developed PPE or the Premium Platform Electric. This all-electric platform provides a design framework that optimises space utilization and adaptable driving dynamics across a range of models. The pure electric Macan is the pioneer in featuring the PPE platform.
Header: The Introduction of the ‘Integrated Power Box’
Porsche is also in the process of patenting a unique component known as the ‘Integrated Power Box’. This innovative configuration amalgamates the on-board AC charger, high-voltage heater, and DC/DC converter into one unit, thereby saving both weight and costs.
The Future Vision
By 2025, Porsche plans for over half of its sales to comprise electrified models. They aim to push this figure up to 80% by 2030, further cementing their commitment to sustainable mobility.
The New Macan – A Glimpse
Porsche’s ambition with the all-wheel-drive Macan is to establish it as the “most sporty model in its segment”, providing “best-in-class performance values, long-range capability, and high-performance fast charging”. Additionally, the Macan’s top range will offer dynamic driving, with a fully variable electronically controlled rear differential, standard torque vectoring, and a ‘Performance’ rear axle. This positions the rear electric motor further back to ensure optimal weight balance, a feature that is highly anticipated in the EV world.
As the electrification of vehicles accelerates, Porsche is committed to leading the charge with its exceptional engineering and innovative technologies. Keep an eye on this space as we continue to bring you the latest updates on Porsche’s electrifying journey.
