Michelin, the global leader in tyre technology, and Alpine are joining forces once more to bring you the future of electric sports cars, and it’s starting with the remarkable A290.
After an impressive decade-long relationship, these two French brands continue their legacy of performance-oriented collaboration, first tapped into with the development of the Alpine A110.

Alpine’s Electric Evolution with Michelin
Resulting from two years of rigorous research, testing, and development, three specific 19-inch tyres have been custom-made for the A290 and future models of Alpine’s Dream Garage electric range. Each tyre has been designed to provide optimal agility and driving pleasure and comes with an exclusive marking unique to Alpine’s electric range.
“Particular attention has been paid to the tyre’s rolling resistance, without compromising grip and driving, to give this first electric Alpine the best possible range, while maintaining the brand’s distinctive dynamic characteristics,” says Philippe Krief, CEO of Alpine.

Alpine A290: Three Unique 19-inch Tyres
The A290 will showcase:
- MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV – an energy-efficient summer tyre that balances grip, longevity, and autonomy.
- MICHELIN Pilot Sport S5 – the sportiest summer tyre, engineered to maximise the full potential of the A290 on both wet and dry surfaces.
- MICHELIN Pilot Alpin 5 – a winter tyre that ensures a high level of grip in a variety of winter conditions, especially on wet or snow-covered surfaces.

Balancing Act: A290’s Electric Vehicle Specs Challenge
Developing tyres for an electric vehicle like the A290 is a unique challenge due to the need to maintain autonomy while accommodating a new weight distribution and high instantaneous torque. The A290 masterfully combines features for agility and stability, boasting a wider track and a shorter wheelbase. Thanks to these enhancements, the tyre’s surface contact with the ground increases by more than 15% to 225 mm wide.
Exclusive Alpine Tyres: A Special Marking
The A290’s specific tyres offer a spectrum of performances to cater to varying needs. The unique marking guarantees that the original performance is preserved at each replacement throughout the life of the vehicle.
