Smile, or rather, frown your way into the future of sustainable mobility with the newly unveiled Smart #3 – a fierce, fully electric, and forward-looking addition to Smart’s line-up of premium automobiles.
This strikingly audacious looking SUV-coupe follows the footprints of the Smart #1, donning an expression that’s seemingly vexed about something. After all, expressing emotion is key in the world of automotive design. As Smart’s second new electric vehicle (EV), it might have dodged being referred to as Smart number two, but it’s ready to make a significant imprint of its own.

First Impressions
Revealed for the first time at the Shanghai motor show, the Smart #3 is all set to make its European debut at the Frankfurt show this September, with a broader European release scheduled for early 2024.
Performance specifics are still under wraps, with the vehicle undergoing the homologation process. But fear not, there’s plenty to discuss when it comes to the design aesthetics of this innovative vehicle.
Design Elements & Interior
In keeping with the #1’s design philosophy, the #3 boasts streamlined LED headlights and Smart’s signature ‘shark nose’ grille. The vehicle also flaunts a two-tone roof, pixelated taillight elements, and an alluring spoiler amongst other design elements, exhibiting a blend of modernity and functionality.
Nestled inside, the Smart #3 offers a 12.8-inch central touchscreen, a fully digital driver display, a 13-speaker Beats sound system, and a halo roof for abundant natural light infusion. And for those who enjoy lap-of-luxury illumination, multi-colour ambient mood lighting is an available option.

Further Insights
The interior gives us a hint of something more. The presence of a ‘B’ badge and a ‘Brabus Mode’ on the screen suggests the existence of a Brabus variant or trim level. And as per the battery gauge, one might anticipate a maximum range of approximately 415km or 258 miles, aligning with the smaller #1’s claimed range of 273 miles.
“Smart is committed to uncompromising quality of experience and interactions,” said Smart Europe CEO, Dirk Adelmann. Undoubtedly, the #3 – Smart’s first-ever sports utility coupe – is a testament to this commitment and a testament to Smart’s goal of catering to the diverse and evolving mobility requirements of consumers across the globe.
What Lies Beneath
Interestingly, both the Smart #1 and the new #3 rest on the SEA2 electric vehicle platform derived from Geely with the #3 boasting a longer wheelbase promising improved interior space.
And To Top It All Off
Wait, there’s more! Exciting new colours are on their way, including an exotic interior variant amusingly named Vibrant Brown. Now that’s a design choice worth waiting for…
Stay tuned for more insights and updates on the Smart #3, an uncompromising confluence of design, technology, and sustainability.
