Peugeot has disclosed the finest UK Christmas markets for owners of electric vehicles, following an extensive study. The study found the Frankfurt Christmas Market in Birmingham to be the most reachable, with a wide scope of charging facilities.
With the arrival of Christmas market stalls nationwide, research by Peugeot UK has identified the ones that are most convenient for electric car drivers. Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market took the lead, closely followed by Edinburgh’s Christmas Fair, with York’s Christmas Market placing third.
The study utilised data from TimeOut, listing the best Christmas markets for a ‘magical festive shopping’ experience. Peugeot initially contrasted how many of the markets were within the 251-mile (WLTP) range of the new Peugeot E-2008 from the UK’s 15 most populated cities. The research* also took into account the number of public charging stations within five miles of the Christmas market, the charging speeds available, and the number of nearby accommodation options that provided electric car charging.

The study revealed that all Christmas markets, except for Edinburgh’s, were reachable from at least twelve of the UK’s largest cities. York’s Christmas Market emerged as the most accessible, with fourteen out of the fifteen most populous UK cities being within driving range of the new E-2008.
Frankfurt Christmas Market in Birmingham
The Frankfurt Christmas Market in Birmingham boasted the highest number of charging stations within a five-mile radius of the city centre, with a total of 154 charging points, including 66 DC rapid chargers with speeds above 50kW. Using a 100kW DC rapid charger, the new E-2008 can charge from 20-80% in less than 30 minutes.
Edinburgh’s Christmas Market
Edinburgh’s Christmas Market, with the second-highest number of charging points, had 104 available, including 31 DC rapid chargers according to Zapmap**. Edinburgh is accessible from six of the UK’s largest cities using the 251-mile range of the new Peugeot E-2008.

The research also took into consideration the number of accommodation options within five miles of the city centre providing charging for EV drivers. York and Birmingham took the lead, both offering 15 different accommodation options with electric vehicle chargers.
Adam Wood, Peugeot UK’s Managing Director, shared: “Christmas markets are favoured destinations during the Christmas period, and our research identifies the markets and cities in the UK that can best serve Peugeot’s electric vehicle customers, as well as other EV motorists. Given the presence of over a million EVs on UK roads, the charging infrastructure will significantly influence where electric vehicle drivers choose to visit this festive season.”
