There’s no denying the exhilaration and intrigue that electric vehicles (EVs) bring to the automotive world. This article aims to shed light on a most recent and noteworthy achievement in EV performance – a mammoth journey across 16 countries completed by the Max Adventure team in a fully electric EV6 Air, accomplished in just over 3.75 days.

The Challenge: 3,174 Miles, 16 Countries, 89 Hours

To celebrate World EV Day on September 9th, the Max Adventure team marked this occasion with an unprecedented undertaking – the Driven To Extremes Euro EV Marathon. The goal was ambitious: drive a standard electric vehicle across 16 countries, spanning 3,174 miles, using existing charging infrastructure.

The challenge stemmed from an inspired motive to debunk the misconception that EVs are ineffective outside city limits or incapable of long-duration travel. After successfully completing this trans-continental venture, the team has demonstrated that electric vehicles are more versatile than many people perceive.

Adaptive Performance: The Kia EV6 Air

The star of this story is undoubtedly the Air, a forward-thinking EV that showcases the impressive advancements in EV technology. With a range extending up to 328 miles on a single charge, the Kia EV6 Air delivers on both performance and durability.

Notable is the car’s 800V ultra-rapid charging technology. With an 18-minute charge time from 10 to 80 percent, the EV6 notably reduced pit-stop duration, optimising the adventurous journey. The ‘Kia Charge’ service was leveraged to provide easy access to more than 400,000 public chargers across Europe, facilitating a smooth and efficient journey.

In comparison to traditional combustion engine vehicles, the EV6 demonstrates notable efficiency. The journey, which was once completed by legendary racer Sir Stirling Moss in 1952, was bettered by the EV6 by 47 minutes. This is a persuasive testament to the potential that EVs hold in the future of motoring.

A Journey Honorably Undertaken

The marathon was more than a route from point A to point B. Deliberate detours were made to honour the legacy of Sir Stirling Moss, reflecting the journey’s purpose – paying homage to the past while pushing boundaries of the future. From the 7,500-foot high Julier Pass in the Swiss Alps, to the historic Monaco Grand Prix circuit, the expedition served as a heartening salute to automotive history.

The Verdict: Bright Future for EVs

This remarkable achievement is a driving force in the evolution of EVs. The team’s victory illustrates that electric vehicles can uphold and surpass the capabilities of their combustion-engine counterparts. In conclusion, the Euro EV Marathon successfully reveals the impressive advances in the EV sector, promising a dynamic and diversified future for the motoring world.
