Smart, following its collaborative venture with Mercedes-Benz and Chinese automobile giant Geely, has revealed its second all-new model—the Smart #3. Whilst details on this fresh electric contender are still scant, we know that the Smart #3 will lay its claim in the SUV-coupe segment.
The Alluring Design Aesthetic of the #3
The Smart #3, as evidenced by the preliminary sketches, promises an SUV-coupe that merges muscular contours with refined elegance, reflecting balanced perfection. Gorden Wagener, the design chief at Mercedes, is vocal about its slimmed-down LED headlights, an adventurous ‘shark-nose’, and a dual-tone roof highlighting the distinctive aesthetics of the upcoming vehicle.
Sporty Performance: The Secret Ingredient of the #3
As of now, performance specifications of this electric SUV-coupe remain a mystery. However, it’s safe to conjecture that the Smart #3 might follow in the footsteps of its sibling, the Smart #1, which utilises Geely’s EV-exclusive ‘SEA-2′ platform. Equipped with a 66kWh battery, the #1 offers an impressive maximum range of roughly 273 miles, offering variations, including a 4WD Brabus model that provides 422bhp and a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds.
The Anticipated Debut
The Smart #3, the next addition to the new wave of Smart electric vehicles, is set to make its debut on 18 April at the Shanghai motor show. Meanwhile, the Smart #1 is gearing up to arrive in the UK market later this summer.
In the reshaping of our electric futures, the Smart #3 is another step forward, alighting the path towards a sustainable, efficient, and thrilling automobile era. Stay tuned with EV Performance for all the latest updates and insights on the world of electric vehicles.
